Soup Recalled From FL Whole Foods Due To Potentially Fatal Allergen

Kettle Cuisine is recalling a batch of Whole Foods Market soup after discovering some containers may contain undeclared shrimp.

TAMPA — Kettle Cuisine is recalling a batch of Whole Foods Market Kitchen Minestrone Soup after discovering some containers may contain undeclared shrimp, according to a notice issued by the U.S. Food & Drug Administration.

The Lynn, Massachusetts-based company said the recall affects 24-ounce cups of Whole Foods Market Kitchen Minestrone Soup distributed in Florida and 17 other states, as well as through nationwide online sales on the Whole Foods and Amazon websites.

Consumers with allergies to crustacean shellfish, including shrimp, are being warned not to consume the product because it could cause a serious or potentially life-threatening allergic reaction.

The affected soup was sold in clear plastic 24-ounce cups marked with Lot Code 1762181 and a use-by date of May 27, 2026, printed on the top rim of the container.

The product also carries UPC code 099482502065 on the back label.

Kettle Cuisine says the recall was initiated after a single cup was discovered in a store containing the wrong soup product, which included shrimp.

No illnesses or allergic reactions connected to the recalled soup had been reported as of Thursday.

The company said no other soups or use-by dates are included in the recall.

The recalled product was distributed to stores in Alabama, Connecticut, Washington, D.C., Florida, Georgia, Massachusetts, Maryland, Maine, Mississippi, North Carolina, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New York, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, South Carolina, Tennessee and Virginia.

Customers who purchased the recalled soup are urged to return it to the place of purchase for a full refund.
