Sprinkles Cupcakes Aims To Sweeten Tampa

The bakery intends to offer its signature Cupcake ATM at the new Tampa location.

TAMPA, FL — Tampa Bay area residents eager for a gourmet way to tackle late-night sugar cravings will soon have access to an around-the-clock “Cupcake ATM.”

Sprinkles Cupcakes has announced its first Florida location will open its doors in Tampa this April. The new location is planned for Hyde Park Village.

“We are thrilled to make our Florida debut in Tampa with homemade cupcakes, cookies and ice cream,” Candace Nelson, Sprinkles’ founder and “Cupcake Wars” judge said. “I am also excited to announce our location will feature a Cupcake ATM to satisfy late-night sugar cravings 24/7.”

That ATM is a special vending machine that is able to dispense cupcakes 24 hours a day. It can hold up to 400 cupcakes at a time and is restocked throughout the day to ensure freshness, company officials say.

Sprinkle opened its first location in Beverly Hills, Calif., in March 2012 and has since expanded across the country. A new Disney Springs location is also planned to open in the near future.

Sprinkles switches up its cupcake flavors based on a changing menu with different selections provided based on the day of the week. A few mainstay flavors are always on the menu, too. Flavors include banana, cinnamon sugar, Cuban coffee, lemon, milk chocolate, vanilla, peanut butter chip and more. To check out the full menu, visit Sprinkles online.

Cupcakes cost $3.75 each or $42 a dozen. The bakery also offers $2 minis.

A firm opening date has not yet been set.
