A Tampa Police crackdown on drag racing on the Gandy Bridge netted two arrests, including one man racing with his two children in the car.

TAMPA, FL -- A Tampa Police crackdown on drag racing along the Gandy Bridge netted two arrests over the weekend, including one man racing with his two children in the back seat.

Tampa Police initiated an operation to address the problem of street racing on the Gandy Bridge. On late Saturday and early Sunday, officers wrote several traffic citations and arrested two St. Petersburg men - Michael Lemire, 27, and Michael Segler, 28 - for street racing.

Both were charged with the misdemeanor of unlawful racing on a highway. Lemire also was charged with two counts of felony child neglect because two young children were in the car while he was street racing.
