Tampa Mayor Delivers First State of the City Address

Tampa Mayor Bob Buckhorn delivered his first official State of the City address in downtown.

Mayor Bob Buckhorn delivered his first State of the City address in downtown Tuesday, April 3.

Buckhorn held the event at to highlight the progress and energy in Tampa today, including the , , which will light the downtown bridges, the new CAMLS facility, the , , and the first Opportunity Corridor on Ashley Street.

Twenty-four students from the Rampello Downtown Partnership School joined Buckhorn on stage. In his remarks, he described how Tampa must come together to create a community where children, like them, can live, work, raise a family, and start a business.

“These kids need a community that they can thrive in,” Buckhorn said."But they also need a community where they can come home someday to live, to work, to play, to raise their families.”
