Stormy Start For Tampa Bay's Workweek Expected
Sunshine is in the Tampa Bay area's forecast as the week progresses.

TAMPA, FL — Tampa Bay area residents may want to batten down the hatches as the workweek gets under way.
The National Weather Service is forecasting a stormy start to the week with a 40 percent chance of showers during the daytime hours Monday. Some of the storms that move into the area have the potential to be quite strong and may produce wind gusts of 35 to 45 mph, the service wrote in Monday’s Hazardous Weather Outlook report. Locally heavy rain and frequent lightning strikes are also possible in some areas.
Monday’s high temperature is expected to reach the low 80s with an overnight low near 70 degrees in much of the region. Motorists may want to watch for patchy fog in the overnight hours Monday and into the morning Tuesday, forecasters warn.
Storms are expected to persist into Tuesday with a 30 percent chance in the daytime and evening hours. Some thunderstorms may also be in the cards along with a high around 80 degrees and a low in the mid-60s.
Sunshine returns to the forecast Wednesday with a mostly sunny start to the day expected and a high in the mid-80s. Storm chances roll in during the afternoon hours and persist into the nighttime when a low in the upper 60s is anticipated.

- High temperature – Mid-80s
- Low temperature – Around 70 degrees

Friday
- High temperature – Mid-80s
- Low temperature – Upper 60s
- Rain chances – About 40 percent in the daytime hours and 30 percent overnight
Rain chances are expected to stick around through the weekend, forecasters say.
