Update: Strong Thunderstorms To Hit Manatee, Hillsborough, Pinellas

FLORIDA —The storm which prompted the severe thunderstorm warning has weakened and is no longer a threat to life or property. However, the National Weather Service in Ruskin said strong thunderstorms will impact portions of northwestern Manatee, Pinellas and Hillsborough counties through 9 p.m.

At 8:23 p.m., Doppler radar was tracking strong thunderstorms along a line extending from near Pebble Creek to near Ruskin to near South Bradenton. Movement was northwest at 5 mph with wind gusts up to 50 mph and a half inch of hail.

Gusty winds could knock down tree limbs and blow around unsecured objects. Minor damage to outdoor objects is possible.

Impacted areas include Tampa, Clearwater, Largo, Sarasota, Bradenton, Pinellas Park, Plant City, Temple Terrace, Seminole, Palmetto, Downtown St. Petersburg, Fort Desoto Park, FishHawk, St. Petersburg, Lutz, Brandon, St. Pete Beach, Anna Maria and Palm Harbor.
