Student's Hoodie Set On Fire At Tampa School; 13-Year-Old Arrested

Tampa police arrested a 13-year-old student who lit a classmate's clothing on fire on Wednesday.

TAMPA, FL — Tampa police arrested a 13-year-old student who lit a classmate's clothing on fire on Wednesday.

Tampa police and Tampa fire investigators were called to North Tampa Alternative School, 8602 N Armenia Ave., around 1 p.m. Sept. 14, after a student used a lighter to set another student's hoodie on fire.

When the other student felt the fire, he quickly began slapping at his back to extinguish the flame and was not injured, although a 3-inch hole was burned into his sweatshirt.
