Stun Gun Discovered In Backpack Of Stewart Middle School 8th-Grader
The 14-year-old girl was arrested after a parent noticed her carrying an electronic stun weapon at the school bus stop.

TAMPA, FL — The Tampa Police Department arrested an eighth-grade student at Stewart Middle School on Monday morning after a parent noticed the 14-year-old was carrying an electronic stun weapon at the school bus stop.
According to Tampa police, the parent saw the student activate the stun weapon designed to look like a lipstick case and reported it to school officials.
The assigned school resource officer and other school officials met the teen as she got off the school bus at the school, 1125 W Spruce St., and escorted her to the office where her backpack was searched and the electronic device found.

The girl was arrested and charged with possession of a weapon on school property, a felony. She was taken to the Juvenile Assessment Center.
"While we often say it, this is a prime example of 'See Something, SaySomething' at work," said Tampa police Chief O'Connor. "in this case, a member of ourcommunity did not hesitate to say something when they had a concern for the safety of others. As officers can't be everywhere at all times, we rely on our community to be our additional eyes and ears in reporting any type of suspicious activity so we can address it quickly."
