Super Bowl Weekend Weather: What To Expect

TAMPA, FL — Folks hoping to enjoy some outdoor time this Super Bowl weekend might want to bring a jacket along for the ride.

According to the National Weather Service, the Tampa Bay area is in for a chilly weekend ahead. Friday kicks things off with sunny conditions and a crisp high that should only climb to about 60 degrees or so in much of the region. A partly cloudy night is anticipated with a low in the mid- to upper 40s.

Saturday is expected to start off with mostly cloudy conditions and a high around 60. Rain chances creep into the picture in the afternoon hours and stick around through the evening. A 30 percent chance of showers caps off Saturday night with an anticipated low in the mid-40s.

While storms are possible on Saturday, no severe weather is expected over the weekend. Boaters and swimmers are being cautioned, however, that conditions on the water might be a little rough. A rip current statement has been issued for local waters through Friday evening and winds are expected to be in the 20 to 25-knot range on coastal waters, as well.

Monday’s start of the workweek is expected to bring slightly warmer conditions with a high around 65. Rain wasn’t in the forecast as of Friday morning.
