Suspect In Stabbing Deaths Of Tampa Teen, Woman Arrested In MD

TAMPA, FL — Authorities have arrested a man in connection with the Sunday stabbing deaths of a 14-year-old girl and woman in Tampa.

Jean Pierre Ojeda Salazar, 25, was apprehended by the U.S. Marshals Fugitive Task Force in Maryland following the fatal stabbings that occurred Sunday morning, the Tampa Police Department said in a news release.

Salazar was charged with first- and second-degree murder, authorities said. He also faces one count of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.

Police were called to a home in the 14000 block of Riveredge Drive in Tampa shortly before 9 a.m. Sunday after receiving a report of a stabbing.

According to authorities, police arrived at the home and found the teen suffering from multiple stab wounds. Police also found a 35-year-old woman who also had multiple stab wounds.

The woman was pronounced dead at the scene, police said. The girl was taken to the hospital, where she later died, according to authorities.

Police said Salazar fatally stabbed both victims following a verbal fight with the woman. Immediately following the incident, authorities said Salazar fled the house in a white sedan that he later abandoned.

According to police, Salazar fled to a residence in Maryland where he was taken into custody.

Salazar is currently being held at the Montgomery County Correctional Facility in Maryland, where he awaits transport back to Florida.
