Tampa-Area Teacher Faces 7 Child Porn Possession Charges

A Hillsborough County middle school teacher was arrested on 7 possession of child sexual abuse material charges, FDLE said.

TAMPA, FL — A Hillsborough County middle school teacher faces seven felony charges of possession of child sexual abuse material, according to a Florida Department of Law Enforcement news release.

Tyrone Lee Cliff, 38, of Ruskin was arrested Tuesday on an out-of-state extradition warrant. He was booked into the Hillsborough County Jail, where he is awaiting extradition to Spokane, Washington.

The investigation began in August, when the Tampa Police Department received a cyber tip from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children about a user downloading child sexual abuse materials.

Investigators determined that Cliff was the user who downloaded the materials because the original address assigned to the device used to download the files identified his home in Spokane, FDLE said.

After further investigation by the Spokane Police Department and FDLE, agents learned that Cliff recently moved from Spokane to Ruskin. Prior to living in Washington, he also owned a martial arts studio in the Tampa Bay area starting in 2015.
