The Tampa Bay Lightning hit the ice for regular season play in October. Single-game tickets go on sale soon.

TAMPA, FL — Tampa Bay Lightning fans itching for some hockey action don’t have too much longer to wait for the regular season to get under way. Those who want to see the Bolts live can buy their tickets starting Aug. 8.
The Lightning plan to begin sales of single-game tickets for the 2016-17 season starting at 10 a.m. Aug. 8. The tickets will be offered exclusively on the Lightning's website, an email from the team said. They will not be available at the McDonald’s Ticket Office.
Season ticket holders and members of the Lightning Insider Text Club will get exclusive pre-sale opportunities, as well. Those fans will be notified of the dates and times they can buy tickets by email and text. To join the Lightning Insider Text Club, just text “BOLTS” to 61873. Fans who do so will receive a single-game ticket presale code on Aug. 5.

The Lightning’s first regular season game is set for Oct. 13 at 7:30 p.m. against the Detroit Red Wings. The game will be played at home. The team is scheduled to play each of its Atlantic Division opponents four times this season – two times at home and two times away. The only exceptions are the Boston Bruins and the Detroit Red Wings. Those teams will both face the Bolts five times each.
Fans hoping to see the Lightning face off against the Stanley Cup Champion Pittsburgh Penguins will get their chance on Dec. 10 at Amalie Arena.

The Lighting are also scheduled to play each of their Metropolitan Division opponents three times each.
“Tampa Bay will host the Washington Capitals, New Jersey Devils, Carolina Hurricanes and Columbus Blue Jacks twice, while playing host to the Penguins, New York Rangers, New York Islanders and Philadelphia Flyers once each, along with each Western Conference team,” the email said.
The Bolts have made it to the Stanley Cup Playoffs two seasons in a row. Last year, they fell in the Eastern Conference Championships to the Penguins.
