Turkey Trots Scheduled Around Tampa Bay On Thanksgiving

If you're looking for something to do before or after your Thanksgiving feast, check out these Thanksgiving Day events:

Gobbler 5K and Fun Run

The Gobbler 5K and Fun Run will take place from 7:30 to 11 a.m. at J.B. Starkey Wilderness Park, 10500 Wilderness Park Blvd., New Port Richey.

The Gobbler is a chipped 5K race and a 1-mile fun run through Starkey Wilderness Park open to people of all ages. Strollers and pets are allowed.

The Gobbler is a fundraiser for First Christian Academy which is a kindergarten through eighth grade school in New Port Richey. The cost is $30 to $40.

FishHawk Turkey Trot

The annual FishHawk Turkey Trot to benefit Seeds of Hope will take place at 8 a.m. at the FishHawk Publix parking lot at 5668 FishHawk Crossing Blvd., Lithia.

The traditional family-friendly event will include a 5K chip timed race, a 10K chip timed race, a 5K untimed race and a 1-mile and 250-yard mini run. Fees are $20 to $45.

Coffee Pot Turkey Trot

The Coffee Pot Turkey Trot will begin at 7:30 a.m. at North Shore Elementary School, 200 35th Ave. N.E., St. Petersburg.

This is a family-friendly, timed 5K looping around St. Petersburg’s Coffee Pot Bayou on Thanksgiving morning. Now in its third year, the event is hosted by the North Shore Elementary PTA. The cost is $30 to $35 or $15 for ages 6 to 11.

Goody Goody Turkey Gobble

The Tampa Metropolitan Area YMCA invites community members to participate in the fifth annual Goody Goody Turkey Gobble 5K, 8K and 1-Mile Run/Walk sponsored by Goody Goody restaurant.

The family-friendly event starts at 7 a.m. in front of the Amalie Arena at 401 Channelside Drive in Tampa. As title sponsor, Goody Goody restaurant is providing free breakfast to all participants after the race. Also included in the registration price are a chip-timed numbered bib for 8K and 5K participants, a dri-fit T-shirt and finisher medal for all participants.

In addition, prizes will be awarded to first place overall male/female adult and first place overall male/female youth (ages 9 and under). First -place prizes will also be awarded by age group (10-19, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60-69, 70-79, 80+). On-site results will be available following the race and in an emailed link.

All proceeds raised will support Livestrong at the YMCA for cancer survivors and their families. Register here.

Tampa Bay Times Turkey Trot

The Tampa Bay Times Turkey Trot will take place Thursday at 7 a.m. at Clearwater High School, 540 S Hercules Ave.

This is the largest running event in the Tampa Bay area with more than 17,000 runners participating annually. There's a race for every skill level, including one for competitive runners, one for recreational runners and one for walkers. The top finisher for the competitive races will receive a trophy.

Proceeds benefit local charities and canned and nonperishable food will be collected in the stadium on race day.

Communitywide Thanksgiving Fest And Feast

Holy Temple Cathedral Church of God in Christ, 2643 5th Ave. S., St. Petersburg, Thursday, will host a free Thanksgiving feast from noon to 5 p.m.

There will be music, free food, praise and worship, a bounce house and games for kids of all ages.

A Christmas Carol Dinner Theater

2nd Stage Dinner Theater, 22057 U.S. 19 N., Clearwater, will host a dinner theater performance of the Dickens classic, "A Christmas Carol," Thursday, Nov. 28 at 7 p.m. The cost of $36 includes a buffet.

For those who can't attend on Thanksgiving, the dinner theater will be presented again Friday, Nov. 29 at 7 p.m., Saturday, Nov. 30 at 2 p.m. and 7 p.m., and Sunday Dec. 1 at 4 p.m.

13th Annual ThanksVegan Feast

Florida Voices for Animals will host the 13th annual Tampa ThanksVegan Dinner Thursday, Nov. 28 from 1:30 to 5:30 p.m. at the Unitarian Universalist Church, 11400 Morris Bridge Road, Tampa.

A social will begin at 1:30 p.m. and the potluck dinner will take place from 2 to 5:30 p.m.

Holiday Lights In Central Park

The City of Largo's Holiday Lights in Central Park holiday display will run from Thursday, Nov. 28 to Jan. 1 from 6 to 11 p.m. at the park, 101 Central Park Drive.

The public is invited to stroll through more than two million LED lights throughout the park for free! At Ferris wheel and carousel will be available for $5 per ride, and there will be a bonfire and food for sale.

Wonderland Of Lights And Santa's Village

The Hillsborough County Fair will kick off its annual Wonderland of Lights and Santa's Village Thursday, Nov. 28 from 6 to 9 p.m. The event will continue nightly through Jan. 5 at the fairgrounds, 215 Sydney Washer Road, Dover.

The holiday event includes a 1-mile drive-through light display, Santa's village featuring Santa visits, food and drinks, the North Pole Express Train, a circus and comedy show, the Wolf Pack Project, amusement rides, pony rides, wagon rides, an Animals of Bethlehem petting zoo and camel rides.

The cost is $25 per car.
