Tampa Bay, FL — Tampa Bay area residents with big outdoor plans over the weekend may want to be mindful of the heat and some potential for storms. According to the National Weather Service, the next few days should be scorchers.

Friday kicks things off with an anticipated high around 93 degrees in much of the Bay area. There’s a 20 percent chance of isolated thunderstorms in the daytime hours. The overnight low is expected to only fall into the upper 70s with those thunderstorm chances lingering at 20 percent.

Saturday brings partly sunny conditions in the daytime hours, but there’s a 30 percent chance for scattered thunderstorms as the day progresses. Forecasters once again say the high should reach about 93 degrees with heat index values around 100.

The chance for scattered thunderstorms sticks around in the evening hours Saturday. Things are expected to clear out a bit later in the evening, however, with partly cloudy conditions anticipated. The overnight low should once again fall into the upper 70s.

Sunday brings the biggest rain chances of the weekend. There’s a 50 percent chance of scattered thunderstorms in the day and nighttime hours. The daytime high should reach about 92 degrees with an overnight low in the upper 70s.

Forecasters aren’t anticipating severe weather over the weekend, but do warn thunderstorms that develop may dump locally heavy rain. In addition, strong, gusty winds may go along with the storms and dangerous lightning strikes, as well.

Monday starts off the workweek with a 50 percent chance of scattered thunderstorms anticipated in the day and nighttime hours. The day’s high should only reach about 90 degrees.
