Tampa Bay Weekend Weather: Sunshine, Blue Skies, Hazardous Boating

Find out what's in store for the Tampa Bay area as the weekend kicks into high gear.

TAMPA, FL — The Tampa Bay area is in for drier, cooler weather as the weekend arrives, but that doesn’t mean conditions will be ideal everywhere.

The National Weather Service warned in its Friday morning Hazardous Weather Outlook report that a “strong late season front” is expected to move across the region in the overnight hours. While that front isn’t expected to bring storms, it will deliver some winds, forecasters warned.

“Hazardous boating conditions are likely to develop late tonight,” forecasters wrote. Winds of up to 25 knots are possible with waves between 5 and 7 feet. Strong northeast winds are expected to continue into Saturday, but should gradually decrease by nighttime.

Potentially bad boating weather aside, forecasters anticipate a rather mild weekend ahead for the Tampa Bay area. Friday kicks things off with sunny skies and a high around 80 expected. The overnight low should drop into the upper 50s in much of the region. Rain is not anticipated even with that front moving in.

Here’s what forecasters expect for the rest of the weekend:

Saturday

  • High temperature – Mid-70s
  • Low temperature – Lower 50s
  • Rain chances – Not anticipated

Sunday

  • High temperature – Upper 70s
  • Low temperature – Low 60s
  • Rain chances – Not expected

Sunshine and slightly warmer temperatures are expected as the workweek kicks off. Rain doesn’t creep back into the forecast until Wednesday night.
