Tampa Bay Workweek Weather: Sunny Start, But Storms Loom

Find out what's in store for the Tampa Bay area as the workweek gets under way.

TAMPA, FL — The sunshine and blue skies that dominated Tampa Bay’s weekend will stick around for a few days, but the streak won’t last for long. That’s according to the National Weather Service whose forecasters say the region is in for some ups and downs as the week continues.

While Monday and Tuesday are expected to kick things off with sunny conditions, highs in the low 80s and overnight lows in the mid-60s, Wednesday is anticipated to be a day of change. The high on Wednesday will reach the mid-80s again with sunny conditions expected at the start. As the day continues, however, thunderstorm chances creep into the forecast in both the afternoon and evening hours.

Thursday and Friday are both expected to deliver about a 40 percent chance for showers and thunderstorms. Temperatures are expected to cool slightly as storms move in with highs only just about the 80-degree mark expected on both of those days.

While storm chances will stick around through the evening hours Friday, the weekend is expected to bring a return of sunny weather with highs in the low 80s once again.

As of Monday, it was unclear if storms later in the week might bring severe weather chances along with them. Last week saw the formation of two tornadoes in Pinellas County and one in Pasco County. While damage was reported in both counties due to the EF 0 tornadoes, no injuries were noted.
