Tampa Cancer Survivor Shares Lucky Charm With Bolts For Playoff Run

The Tampa Bay Lightning is preparing to face the Panthers Tuesday, May 17 at 7 p.m. at FLA Live Arena in Sunrise.

TAMPA, FL — Earning entry into the second round of the 2022 Stanley Cup playoffs after defeating the Maple Leafs Saturday night, 2-1, in Game 7 of the first round, the Tampa Bay Lightning is preparing to face the Panthers Tuesday, May 17 at 7 p.m. at FLA Live Arena in Sunrise.

Fans can once again watch the game at a giant watch party at Ford Thunder Alley in front of Amalie Arena. The plaza opens at 5 p.m. and the party will begin at 6 p.m., featuring live entertainment, appearances from ThunderBug and other Lightning personalities, giveaways and concession specials.

Among those who plan to watch the game is the Lightning's newest fan, AdventHealth Carrollwood intensive care nurse and cancer survivor Angelica Rodriguez.

Rodriguez experienced her first-ever Tampa Bay Lightning game Thursday night at Amalie Arena after answering the Bolts' “Call to Charms” as they chase history, seeking a third Stanley Cup championship in a row.

Fans were invited to lend jerseys, keychains, hats, pucks, cups and other good luck charms to the Bolts to travel with the team during the playoffs and be displayed at Amalie Arena.

Rodriguez gifted the team her copy of "The Purpose Driven Life," which she said gave her strength and motivation as she was battling stage three ovarian cancer at the height of the COVID-19 pandemic.

The National Hockey League today announced the dates, starting times and national television coverage for the 2022 Stanley Cup Playoffs Second Round. The winner of the best-of-seven series will move on to the conference finals, followed by the cup finals.
