According to the announcement, the giveaway is tied to National Pay It Forward Day.

The gift cards and merchandise are intended to encourage guests to keep the effort going by paying for another customer's order or doing something thoughtful for someone else in the community, the company said.

Dunkin's mascot, Cuppy, is also expected to appear during the event. According to the announcement, Cuppy will interact with guests and join the local Dunkin' crew as the promotion gets underway.
