Tampa Mom With 5-Year-Old In Car Charged With DUI Crash With Injuries

A 30-year-old woman is accused of causing a crash while under the influence with her 5-year-old child in the car.

TAMPA, FL — A 30-year-old woman is accused of causing a crash while under the influence with her 5-year-old child in the car.

According to Tampa police, Hannah Lynn Peters was driving north on 30th Street North Saturday at 3:59 a.m. when she drifted into the oncoming lane and struck a motorcyclist head on in the 11300 block of 30th Street North.

After the crash, police said Peters attempted to flee the scene in her car, but her car was boxed in at the parking lot of the CVS at 2911 Fowler Ave. N. by nearby officers.

Police said Peters showed signs of impairment and placed under arrest and charged with DUI with serious bodily injury, leaving the scene of a traffic crash with serious bodily injury and child neglect for having her 5-year-old in the car at the time of the crash.

The child was not injured during the crash. The motorcyclist suffered serious injuries, but is expected to survive.
