Tampa Named Among America's Top 50 Best Places To Live
Niche also ranked 17 Tampa neighborhoods among the top 100 in America. See where your neighborhood ranked.

TAMPA, FL — Weather, outdoor activities, nightlife and diversity are among the attributes that earned Tampa the 40th spot on Niche's 2021 Best Cities to Live in America list.
For the seventh year, Niche, a website best known for its school and college rankings, Niche, released its 2021 Best Places to Live report this week.
Niche looked at 228 cities, 18,516 towns as well as neighborhoods to determine the best spots for Americans to call home.

Niche based its rankings on data from the U.S. Census, FBI, Bureau of Labor Statistics and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention along with millions of resident reviews. The company considers factors such as affordability, the local housing market, neighborhood diversity, area public schools and walkability.
“In the past year, many people have become more mobile than ever before. Especially if they’re able to work remotely, people are asking themselves where they really want to live,” said Luke Skurman, CEO and founder of Niche. “Our rankings are designed to help our users find the next place they want to call home based on their unique priorities. For families, we know schools are an important factor. In addition to the Best Places to Live rankings, our comprehensive school profiles and school rankings are very valuable for families looking to make a move.”

Users can view the Best Places, Cities, Suburbs and Neighborhoods to Live rankings by state, metro area or county. Specialized lists include Best for Families, Young Professionals, Homebuyers and Retirees.
Tampa ranked No. 40 out of 228 cities on the best cities list after receiving an overall grade of A.

- A for outdoor activities
- A for nightlife
- A- for good for families
- B+ for public schools
- B+ for health and fitness
- B+ for commute
- B for jobs
- B- for housing
- B- for cost of living
- C for crime and safety
Additionally, Tampa ranked No. 17 out of 228 for Most Diverse Cities in America and No. 35 out of 228 for Best Cities to Retire in America.
Niche also examined neighborhoods within each city based on the 12 criteria used to assess cities. Seventeen Tampa neighborhoods ranked among the 100 Best Neighborhoods in America including:
