Tampa, St. Petersburg, Clearwater Mayors To Discuss Storm Resiliency

What: On Tuesday, Jan. 7, the mayors of the Tampa Bay area’s three largest cities – Jane Castor of Tampa, Rick Kriseman of St. Petersburg and George Cretekos of Clearwater - will have a first-of-its-kind discussion about how the area can better prepare for sea level rise and major storms.

The panel discussion is part of the two-day Resilience Leadership Summit, the area’s first major conference on resiliency, with experts from such areas as Houston, Norfolk and the Netherlands joining local leaders to discuss what can be done to make the area more resilient.

When: Tuesday, Jan. 7 from 1 p.m. to 2:15 p.m.

Interview opportunities: Castor, Kriseman and Cretekos will be available after the panel discussion for interviews.

Also available: Pinellas County Commissioner Janet Long, who heads the Tampa Bay Regional Resiliency Coalition, along with Sean Sullivan, executive director, and CJ Reynolds, director of resilience & engagement, of the Tampa Bay Regional Planning Council.

About the Resilience Leadership Summit: The Resilience Leadership Summit is being held by the Tampa Bay Regional Resiliency Coalition, a group of 28 local governments and more than 80 partners that are working together to increase community resilience. The group and conference is organized by the Tampa Bay Regional Planning Council.
