Tampa's Newest Riverwalk Section Opens Friday

The celebration of the Kennedy segment's completion includes a number of free events.

Bay area residents are invited out to celebrate the grand opening of the new Kennedy segment of Tampa’s Riverwalk this Friday, March 27.

The festivities begin with a ribbon cutting at 5 p.m. presided over by Mayor Bob Buckhorn and former mayors of Tampa. The fun continues throughout the night with activities and entertainment along the Riverwalk starting at 6 p.m. Food trucks, free ice cream and “The Plank,” Tampa’s first waterfront pop-up bar will all be available, according to the city. Special guests include the Florida Aquarium and Lowry Park Zoo.

At 8 p.m., “Dolphin Tale” will take over as the attraction. The free movie will play at Curtis Hixon Waterfront Park, 600 N. Ashley Drive.
