Teen Shot While Breaking Into Home: Tampa Police

A home invasion is under investigation after a teenage boy was shot by another teen while breaking into a home Monday, Tampa police said.

TAMPA, FL — A teenager was shot while breaking into a Tampa home Monday afternoon, authorities said.

The home invasion happened in the 1100 block of 109th Avenue, according to a Tampa Police Department news release.

Initial investigations showed that the suspect, a boy in his mid-teens, “unlawfully entered an occupied residence when there was a confrontation with a teen who was inside the home,” police said.

The teen who lived in the home shot the suspect, who ran from the scene.

The suspect was found nearby with a gunshot wound and taken to the hospital, where he was last listed as stable, police said.
