Thanksgiving Week Gas Prices Lowest in 5 Years

The average national price for a gallon of regular gas has dropped by 46 cents from last year. Prices are down throughout Tampa Bay.

Tampa Bay area residents fueling up for Thanksgiving travel are going to see the lowest prices at the pumps for Thanksgiving week in five years.

AAA Auto Club South says the national average price for a regular gallon of gas was $2.82 on Sunday. That price is 46 cents cheaper than Thanksgiving Day last year.

With an estimated 2.1 million Floridians hitting the road this Thanksgiving, the price drops come at a great time, Mark Jenkins, AAA spokesman said in a media release.

“The good news is gas should continue falling through the rest of the year,” he added.

The average price for regular gasoline in the Tampa, St. Petersburg and Clearwater area is $2.71, according to AAA. In the Bradenton, Sarasota area the average price is $2.79, as of Monday.
