These Are FL's Best Graduate Schools, U.S. News Says In New Ranking

Six colleges in Florida were ranked among the Best Graduate Schools in the country by U.S. News and World Report, which released its annual rankings Tuesday.

The rankings, intended as a guide for prospective graduate students, evaluate programs in a variety of disciplines, including engineering, medicine, business, law, education, nursing and social sciences.

In Florida, the following institutions made the top three statewide in their respective rankings:

Best Business Schools

• University of Florida (Warrington), Gainesville, No. 39 (tie) nationally
• University of Miami (Herbert), Miami, No. 39 (tie) nationally
• University of South Florida (Muma), Tampa, No. 98 (tie) nationally

Best Law Schools

• Florida State University, Tallahassee, No. 34 (tie) nationally
• University of Miami, Coral Gables, No. 70 (tie) nationally
• Florida International University, Miami, No. 77 (tie) nationally

Best Medical Schools (Research)

• University of Florida, Gainesville, Tier 1
• University of South Florida (Morsani), Tampa, Tier 1
• University of Miami (Miller), Miami, Tier 2

Best Engineering Schools

• University of Florida (Wertheim), Gainesville, No. 46 (tie)
• University of Central Florida, Orlando, No. 71 (tie)
• University of South Florida, Tampa, No. 83 (tie)

Best Nursing Schools: Master's

• University of South Florida, Tampa, No. 22 (tie)

Best Education Schools

Because each program is different, the rankings methodologies vary by discipline and graduate degree level.
