Hurricane Michael: Nearly 260,000 Without Power In Florida
Thousands of residences and businesses are without power after Hurricane Michael descended on Florida's Panhandle.

TAMPA, FL – The number of homes and businesses without power in Florida days after Hurricane Michael laid waste sits at 260,000. This figure was reported at 9 a.m. Saturday by Florida's Emergency Response Team.
"We have over 30,000 workers from around the United States that have been pre-staged to try to work as quickly as possible to get the electric back on," FEMA administrator Brock Long said on CNN Thursday morning.

Sen. Marco Rubio called Hurricane Michael relief a multi-year effort in an interview Thursday on CNN.
"We've got to rebuild the electric grid. This is not restoring power," Rubio said. "From what I'm hearing this morning, they have to rebuild the electric grid based on some damage that's been described to me."

The U.S. death toll due to Hurricane Michael is at least 17, according to CNN as of Saturday morning.
