Tree Falls On Car Killing Driver

TAMPA, FL – A 36-year-old man was killed this morning when a tree fell onto his car along Orient Road North in Tampa, authorities said.

William J. Vantassel of Hudson was driving north on Orient approaching the intersection of Deleuil Avenue at 3:52 a.m. when a large section of an oak tree broke and fell onto the hood of his Nissan Altima and nearby power lines, the Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office said.

The tree crushed the roof of the car and Vantassel died at the scene.
