U.S. Sen. Marco Rubio Booted From Tampa Office

Marco Rubio is looking for new office space after protesters have caused problems at his current Tampa location.

TAMPA, FL — U.S. Sen. Marco Rubio’s constituents in the Tampa Bay area will soon find themselves driving more to conduct face-to-face business with the Republican and his staff. Following a steady stream of protests outside his Tampa office building, Rubio’s been asked to pack up operations by Friday.

The owners of Rubio’s 5201 W. Kennedy Blvd. office building reportedly notified the senator on Feb. 1 of their intentions to not renew his lease. The office has until Friday, March 3, to vacate.

The owner of the nine-story Bridgeport Center told the Tampa Bay Times the constant rallies have become too much of a burden.

“A professional office building is not a place for that,” Jude Williams, president of America’s Capital Partners, was quoted by the Times as saying.

Rubio’s office has issued a statement that an active search is under way for a new location in the Tampa Bay area. As of Wednesday morning, a new office location had not been announced.

Rubio’s closest office to the Tampa Bay area is located in Orlando at 201 S. Orange Ave.

While the search for a new home continues, Tampa Bay area constituents can reach Rubio’s office at 1-866-630-7106.

Protests at Rubio’s Tampa office had been occurring at a rate of about one a week, the Times noted. The groups behind them have been varied, but many seem to be following plays out of the “Indivisible Guide.” That online publication puts forth strategies for “making Congress listen” and touts itself as being “A Practical Guide For Resisting The Trump Agenda.”

Similar rallies have taken place outside other Congressional offices across the country in recent weeks.
