Treatment is provided for veterans with mental illness, traumatic brain injuries, substance abuse problems and other psychological issues.
A range of misdemeanor charges are eligible to be dropped by the court including disorderly conduct, possession of cannabis, possession of drug paraphernalia, resisting an officer without violence and trespassing. Some county or municipal ordinance violations also qualify.
The court is intended to be an incentive for veterans, many of which are homeless, to get the treatment they need so they can get their lives back on track.
