Video: Police Offer Tips for Keeping 'Zombies' Away

The Tampa Police Department is taking advantage of Halloween season to remind residents to close their garage doors.

Flesh-eating creatures haven’t invaded Tampa’s streets, but that doesn’t mean bad things aren’t on the prowl.

“Zombies are swarming around open garage doors and the Tampa Police Department wants to show you how to keep them out of your home and away from your valuables,” the agency wrote on its YouTube page.

How to Help the Tampa Police Keep Zombies Out of Your Home” is a video that was produced with a little help from Busch Gardens. It features a “zombie invasion” that occurs after a couple leaves their garage door open when they head out for date night.

The video is the latest in a string of amusing, but quite serious messages released by the Tampa Police Department. The agency gained lots of attention for its 2012 “Call Me Maybe” video that was a parody of Carly Rae Jepsen’s hit song. That video has received more than 100,000 views.

The department intends to release a number of what it’s dubbing #ZombieTips during the month of October, which also happens to be Crime Prevention Awareness Month. In a teaser video, it promises local residents lots of upcoming #ZombieTips to keep them “safe from the swarm.”
