Wanted Man Killed By Tampa Police Following Chase, Gun Battle

A 41-year-old man wanted for murder in Georgia has been killed after engaging in a chase and gun battle with Tampa Police officers.

TAMPA, FL – A 41-year-old man wanted for murder in Georgia has been killed after engaging in a chase and gun battle with Tampa Police officers who were trying to arrest him.

The shooting occurred Sunday, April 1 at the intersection of East 28th Avenue and North 15th Street where the man fled from his car, attempted to steal a bystander’s car and shot at Tampa Police officers.

The officers returned fire, killing the man. No officers were injured.

The pursuit started around 6:12 p.m. when the man was spotted in a white Chevy Impala. He fled from police on Interstate 275 and down several Tampa streets. While fleeing, he fired shots at the officers.

He was heading west on E. 28th Avenue when he abandoned his car and attempted to carjack another. That’s when he fired at officers and they returned fire.

Both officers and Florida Highway Patrol troopers attempted CPR on the man but he died of his gunshot wounds.
