Celebrate Oktoberfest
The 5th annual Oktoberfest Tampa gets under way Friday and runs through Sunday at downtown’s Curtis Hixon Park. Featuring food, games and plenty of frothy beer, the celebration costs $10 for one-day admission. To find out more, visit the Oktoberfest website.
Go Vintage
Shabby Chic Vintage Market and Artisan Day comes to the Tampa Garden Club Sunday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. The event takes place at 2629 Bayshore Boulevard and features artisans, food vendors, entertainers and more. Help Kick off the African Heritage Trail
St. Petersburg celebrates three days of fun with a street festival, garden party and jazz performance. The fun takes place at St. Petersburg Preservation, 243 Central Ave. For a complete lineup of events, visit the event’s listing.
Catch a USO Show
The 3rd Annual Stars & Stripes USO show is set to take place in Largo Oct. 11. The event is staged at the Armed Forces History Museum, 2050 34th Way N. Be sure to check out the event’s listing for all the details and ticket prices. The show features 1940’s style entertainment.

Get Your Bonsai On
The Honey Bee and Bonsai Festival is set for Oct. 11 at Clearwater’s Moccasin Lake Nature Preserve, 2750 Park Trail Lane. Featuring tons of demonstrations, live bee hives, arts and crafts and entertainment, the free event takes place from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Check out the event’s listing for all the details.
Check Out Nik Wallenda’s Tightrope Walk
The acclaimed daredevil is practicing for an upcoming performance and he’s making those practices public. Just visit Nathan Benderson Park, 5851 Nathan Benderson Circle, in Sarasota to catch a glimpse. Wallenda is planning to walk between two Chicago skyscrapers soon. Practices are set for this weekend at 11 a.m. and 6 p.m. Saturday and 3 p.m. Sunday. Check out Wallenda’s website for more details.
