Weekend Weather: Chilly Nights Ahead

Near-freezing conditions are expected in some parts of the Tampa Bay region.

TAMPA, FL — Tampa Bay area residents may want to pull out those jackets and extra blankets for the overnight hours this weekend.

According to the National Weather Service, “a reinforcing surge of cool, dry air will move into the region today (Friday) in the wake of a cold front.” That reinforcing surge, the service wrote in its Hazardous Weather Outlook report, will enable temperatures to fall off quickly once the sun sets. Some parts of the region will experience lows in the upper 30s Friday. Those in the Nature Coast’s interior may find conditions even colder with morning frost possible on Saturday.

While the overnight hours Friday are expected to be crisp, the daytime hours are anticipated to be quite sunny with a high in the low 60s.
