
Tampa Bay area residents hoping for some outdoor time this weekend might want to plan their fun earlier in the day.
According to the National Weather Service, storms are possible in much of the region this weekend. The good news, however, is that rain isnât expected until the afternoon hours.
Friday kicks off the weekend with a 40 percent chance of scattered thunderstorms in much of the Bay area. Those storms are expected to start rolling in after 2 p.m. The dayâs high should reach the upper 80s with an overnight low in the lower 70s. Storm chances drop to about 30 percent in the overnight hours, as well.

Hereâs what forecasters anticipate for the rest of the weekend:
Saturday
- High temperature â Upper 80s
- Low temperature â Mid-70s
- Rain chances â About 30 percent in the afternoon hours, climbing to about 60 percent overnight.
Sunday
- High temperature â Upper 80s
- Low temperature â Mid-70s
- Rain chances â About 60 percent in the afternoon hours and roughly the same overnight in much of the region. Storms are expected to clear out after 8 p.m. with mostly cloudy conditions remaining. Whether the supermoon/lunar eclipse combination will be visible remains up in the air.
Monday is expected to bring more rain with a 50-percent chance of scattered thunderstorms.
