
That break from the heat many Tampa Bay area residents have asked for is on the way, but we’ll have to endure a potentially wet weekend to reap the reward.
According to the National Weather Service, the weekend kicks off Friday with mostly cloudy conditions during the daytime hours and a high around 82 degrees. Storm chances come into the picture during the afternoon hours and linger into the evening when a low around 70 degrees is anticipated.
More rain is in the cards Saturday with a 60 percent chance forecast in the daytime hours and about a 70 percent chance overnight. The high temperature should reach the low 80s with a low in the upper 60s anticipated.

Sunday kicks off with a 70 percent chance of rain and a high about 75 degrees. Rain chances are expected to drop to about 40 percent in the overnight hours with a low around 55 degrees expected.
Once the front responsible for all the weekend’s rains moves out of the picture, forecasters anticipate much cooler conditions. The forecast for Monday includes a small chance for showers followed by sunny conditions. The high is expected to only reach the upper 60s with a low in the lower 50s expected.

While widespread hazardous weather isn’t anticipated with the frontal system that’s moving through this weekend, forecasters do warn that locally heavy rainfall and lightning strikes are possible. Boaters are also urged to exercise caution on Bay area waters.
