Record-high temperatures are expected in parts of Florida over the Memorial Day holiday weekend. Here's the latest forecast.
FLORIDA — Depending on what you’ve got going on for the upcoming three-day Memorial Day Weekend, long regarded as the unofficial start to summer, you may have to plan around weather conditions in Florida.
Some parts of the country will continue to dodge storms and others will be hot and sweltering, the private weather company AccuWeather said Monday in its Memorial Day weekend forecast.
The forecast calls for a mostly sunny and hot day Friday in Tampa with a high of 96 degrees, tying the record-high temperature from 2012. At night, it will be partly cloudy and humid with a low of 74.

Saturday will see a shower in the Tampa area in the morning, otherwise it will be partly sunny and hot with a high of 95, AccuWeather said. Saturday night will be clear and humid with a low of 74 degrees.
Sunday in Tampa will be partly sunny and hot with a high of 96 degrees and a mainly clear and humid night with a low of 75.

On Monday, Memorial Day, it will be mostly sunny in Tampa reaching a high of 94. Monday night will be clear, warm and humid with a low of 78, the forecast said.
In South Florida, it will be mostly sunny and warm Friday in Miami with a high of 89 degrees. Friday night will be partly cloudy and warm with a low of 79 degrees, the forecast said.
Temperatures are expected to hit a high of 90 degrees Saturday with a mix of sun and some clouds with a couple of thunderstorms during the day in Miami, AccuWeather said. At night, it will be partly cloudy, very warm and humid with a low of 80 degrees.
Sunday in Miami will be partly sunny, but warm and humid, with a high temperature of 91. A thunderstorm is forecast for the afternoon. By evening, it will be clear to partly cloudy, while remaining very warm and humid with a low of 81 degrees, forecasters said.

Sections of the central U.S. pummeled by strong storms and rain probably won’t get much of a break, according to the AccuWeather forecasters. Travel could be affected by the heavy rains associated with these storms, which have a history of producing strong winds, hail and flooding.
“While each day will not be a washout everywhere, and some locations will be fortunate enough to miss thunderstorm activity Saturday through Monday, there will be areas that get doused on more than one occasion across the Plains states,” AccuWeather Senior Meteorologist Renee Duff said in the forecast.
The Upper Mississippi Valley, the Great Lakes could see showers and thunderstorms throughout the weekend, with the storms moving into the Northeast and Southeast by Monday and potentially disrupting memorial services and outdoor cookouts.
Temperatures should be fairly pleasant in mid-Atlantic states, with highs in the 80s, 70s and even 60s at some points during the holiday weekend.
Locations from the Gulf Coast to the Desert Southwest are expected to see temperatures in the 90s or even higher in some parts of Texas.
