Workweek Weather: Storms, Cooler Weather On The Way

Find out what's in store for the Tampa Bay area in the week ahead.

TAMPA, FL — Tampa Bay area residents who’ve been enjoying the balmy conditions as of late may want to get out and savor the nice weather while it lasts.

According to the National Weather Service, Monday is likely to be the last solid sunny day for a little while. With mostly sunny conditions and a high near 80 expected in much of the Bay area, Monday’s start to the workweek should be a nice one. The overnight low is anticipated to dip into the low 60s with cloudy conditions moving in overnight in much of the region.

Tuesday is expected to bring another high near 80, but storm chances are also in the cards. Forecasters anticipate a 30 percent chance of showers in the daytime hours and about 20 percent overnight when the low should drop into the mid-60s.

Wednesday is forecast to be a bit of a washout. There’s a 60 percent chance of thunderstorms expected during the daytime hours. How severe those storms will be remains unclear, but forecasts say they’re expected to only drop the day’s high to the mid-70s. Thunderstorm chances persist into the overnight hours when the low should fall into the upper 50s.

Once the storms clear out, forecasters expect the workweek to finish off on a mild note. Here’s how the forecast looks for Thursday and Friday:

Thursday

  • High temperature – Mid-60s
  • Low temperature – Upper 40s
  • Rain chances – Not anticipated

Friday

  • High temperature – Low 60s
  • Low temperature – Low 40s
  • Rain chances – Not expected

The mild weather is anticipated to stick around into Saturday at least.
