Workweek Weather: Sweltering Heat Continues
Find out what to expect outdoors in the Tampa Bay area.

Tampa Bay area residents might want to keep umbrellas close by and prepare for more staggering heat as the workweek gets under way.
The National Weather Service is forecasting a week ahead that nearly resembles the one that just passed. That means high temperatures daily should break that 90-degree mark and storm chances are present throughout the week. While forecasters aren’t warning of excessive heat impacts from “feels like” temperatures as of yet this week, they are cautioning that thunderstorms this week have the potential to produce strong winds, heavy rains and deadly lighting strikes.
This week happens to be Lightning Safety Awareness Week across America. In the Tampa Bay area, electrical storms have already claimed one life this year. An 81-year-old man in Largo died last Friday after being struck by lightning while out on a morning walk.
