Workweek Weather: What to Expect

A soggy Labor Day Monday is setting the stage for workweek’s kickoff.

According to the National Weather Service, the forecast for the week isn’t a total washout, but a few days of rain do seem to be on the agenda. While Tuesday will bring a 50 percent chance of storms in most parts of the Bay following Monday’s 90 percent chance, the picture does improve as the week moves forward.

Rain chances begin to drop Tuesday evening to about 20 percent. Forecasters anticipate only a 30 percent chance of scattered storms on Wednesday in much of the Bay during the daytime hours followed by a 20 percent chance overnight.

Here’s a look at how the rest of the week is expected to shape up:

Thursday

  • High temperature – About 90
  • Low temperature – Upper 70s
  • Rain chances – About 20 percent in the daytime hours with mostly cloudy conditions anticipated overnight.

Friday

  • High temperature – About 90
  • Low temperature – Upper 70s
  • Rain chances – About 40 percent in the daytime hours with a 30 percent chance overnight.

While Tampa Bay residents keep an eye on the skies for normal seasonal storms, the National Hurricane Center is monitoring the movement of Tropical Storm Grace. As of 11 a.m. Monday, the storm had maximum sustained winds of about 45 mph. It was located about 810 miles west of the Cape Verde Islands, moving west at 17 mph. The storm poses no immediate threat to Florida, but forecasters are keeping a careful watch as its makes its way toward Puerto Rico.
