1 Dead in Shooting at St. Pete Convenience Store
Security guards shot and killed the man early Tuesday morning.

A 23-year-old St. Petersburg man is dead after police say he pulled out a handgun inside the Obama Express convenience store Tuesday morning.
According to the St. Petersburg Police Department, Jhai-quel Rai-Tez Black and another man walked into the 1400 18th Ave. S. store around 3:30 a.m. arguing with each other. At some point, police say Black pulled out a handgun and started waving it around.

Two armed, uniformed security guards, who had been patrolling outside, walked inside and saw Black with a gun, an email to media from the department stated.
Both guards, police say, confronted Black and ended up discharging their firearms.

Black died as a result of his injuries.
No charges are anticipated in the case, the department’s email stated. The shooting, however, is under review by the State Attorney’s Office.
