13 Cell Phones Stolen From Downtown Bars: St. Pete Police
Numerous cell phone thefts at downtown St. Pete bars and clubs might be connected to a coordinated ring that targeted the city, police said.
ST. PETERSBURG, FL — Thirteen cell phones were stolen from people at downtown bars and clubs over the weekend, the St. Petersburg Police Department wrote in a Facebook post.
Often, when there are so many cell phone thefts, they’re connected to coordinated “rings that come through town and look for crowded venues and easy pickings,” the agency said.
The department offers the following tips for keeping cell phones safe while at local bars:

- Don’t set phones on table tops or bar tops.
- Don’t let phones stick out of your back pocket.
- Don’t leave your bag open.
“Don’t let a thief take the fun out of a night on the town,” SPD said.
