16-Year-Old's Shooting Death 'Not Random,' Cops Say

The incident occurred Tuesday evening on Langdon Avenue.

The St. Petersburg Police Department is investigating the shooting death of a 16-year-old boy.

According to the agency, a call about shots fired at 2593 Landon Ave. S. came in around 7:47 p.m. Tuesday. When police arrived, they learned a teenager had been shot and was taken to All Children’s Hospital.

The boy, who has not yet been identified, died shortly after arriving at the hospital, an email from the agency stated.

Detectives are still conducting interviews in the case and are actively tracking leads, the department reported Wednesday morning.

“This is not a random act of violence,” the agency wrote Wednesday. “At this time, detectives believe this particular residence was intentionally targeted.”

Police are releasing no further details.
