2 Arrested in Armed Robbery Spree

The man and woman are accused of committing several recent robberies in St. Petersburg using a BB gun as their weapon of choice.

A St. Petersburg couple faces a number of criminal charges after police connected them with a string of recent armed robberies.

According to the St. Petersburg Police Department, Cameron Bayko, 26, and Kacey Kilbride, 27, were picked up by an Independent Taxi cab around 11:45 p.m. Saturday in the area of 54th Avenue North and 37th Street North. The two asked to be taken to a Quality Inn on 12th Avenue North.

Once there, police say Bayko put a handgun to the back of the driver’s head and demanded cash. After getting it, the two took off on foot, an email from the agency stated.

Police say the two in that robbery happened to match the description of suspects wanted in a recent Sam’s Club Gas Station robbery, as well. In that case, a man and woman approached the clerk at the 1725 34th St. N. station. Armed with a gun, the two demanded money. When the clerk told them no cash was available, the two ran away, the email said.

The Sam’s Club robbery wasn’t a windfall for the suspects, but police say surveillance camera photos shot during the crime proved quite valuable. Using those photos, police checked several nearby hotels for the pair and found them staying in a room at the 8 Inn Motel, 1201 34th St. N.

Both Kilbride and Bayko were brought into custody. A search of their motel room uncovered a BB gun, the agency’s email said.

Detectives say the two are also responsible for a Sept. 25 BP Gas Station robbery and might be connected to other crimes outside the city limits.

Bayko was being held in the Pinellas County Jail in lieu of $600,000 bond Tuesday. He faces four armed robbery charges. Kilbride has been charged with two counts of armed robbery. Her bond has been set at $300,000.
