2 Teens Arrested For ‘Threatening’ Social Media Post: St. Pete Police

The teens pointed what appeared to be guns while standing in front of a parked sheriff's office vehicle, St. Pete police said.

ST. PETERSBURG, FL — Two teenagers face multiple charges over a social media post with a “threatening message,” according to a St. Petersburg Police Department news release.

In a photo shared on social media, a 17-year-old boy and 15-year-old boy pointed what appeared to be guns while standing in front of a Pinellas County Sheriff’s Office deputy’s parked vehicle, police said.

The agency didn’t share the names of the teens, who were arrested on various charges, or when or where the photo was taken.

The 17-year-old was charged with armed trespassing, threatening communications, two counts of felony violation of probation, violation of supervised release and tampering with evidence.

The 15-year-old was charged with armed trespassing and possession of marijuana.

“Parents, please remind your teens that threats on social media are not a joke,” police said. “The St. Petersburg Police Department takes threatening social media posts very seriously and the consequences could be severe.”
