$450 Million Powerball Jackpot Drawing Set for Wednesday

Wednesday’s upcoming Powerball drawing has one of the biggest prizes on the line in recent history.
Estimated at $450 million, the jackpot exceeds its highest amount in the past year.
According to lottery officials, the largest win in recent history was logged Feb. 19, 2014, when a California man took home a $425 million win. The biggest win on record came in May 2013 when a $590.5 million prize went to a winner in Florida.

But, just how much does Wednesday’s jackpot amount to in take home cash? According to the website USAMega.com, a hefty sum!
A lump-sum payment in Florida, where there are no state taxes on lottery wins, would add up to $228,075,000. If a winner chose 30 payments, the prize amount would come out to roughly $337,500,000, the website states.

Wednesday’s drawing takes place at 10:59 p.m. Ticket sales stop at least 59 minutes before the drawing.
Powerball is played in 44 states, including Florida, Washington D.C., Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands.
