5 Things to Do With Dad for His Special Day

Gift-giving is nice. Spending time together is memorable. Here's a list of things to do with Dad in St. Petersburg.

1.) Tropicana Field: The Rays play the cross-state rival Marlins on Sunday night, beginning at 7:10 p.m. Tickets start at only $12. And it's BJ Upton Bobblehead Night. Make it extra special and have dinner at the park. The Brewhouse and the new Everglades BBQ Smokehouse both open 2 hours before every home game. A combination of beer, barbecue and baseball should please most Dads, as long as the family is there with them to enjoy it together.

2.) Watch the Game at Dad's Favorite Sports Bar: If baseball tickets are out of your budget, take Dad out to his favorite sports bar, where the game will be on TV and you can share burgers and beers. , in the shadow of Tropicana Field, is a great choice for the hardcore sports fan. Other good choices include the following: Beef O'Brady's, Miller's Ale House, or Lee Roy Selmon's at the Tyrone Square Mall.

3.) 4.) Join Him in His Favorite Outdoor Activity: Does Dad play golf? Make him a reservationto play 9 or 18 holes at the city-owned Mangrove Bay Club. If he's got member privileges, there's the St. Petersburg Country Club or the Vinoy on Snell Isle. How about boating? Help him get the boat ready on Saturday for a Sunday day on the water. Fishing? Wet a line by boat, pier or surf.

5.) Barbecue with the Family: Plan a family barbecue. Take him shopping o offer to go yourself. Try Mazzaro's, Fresh Market or Publix for a great cut of steak. Then make sure to pick charcoal or a new propane cylinder and a six-pack of Dad's favorite brew.
