Accused Drug Traffickers Surrender

A $13,000 reward for the capture of the King brothers was announced Thursday morning.

Two brothers wanted by a host of local and federal agencies on drug-trafficking related charges have surrendered after a $13,000 reward for their capture was announced Thursday morning.

According to the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF), Kenyate and Michael King surrendered to federal authorities shortly after news about the reward broke. The brothers were wanted by local and federal law enforcement agencies for conspiracy to possess with the intent to distribute a controlled substance.

ATF came forward Thursday morning to offer a $5,000 reward for the arrest of each brother and Crime Stoppers of Tampa Bay kicked in another $3,000.

According to ATF, locations associated with the King brothers in both St. Petersburg and Pinellas Park were searched on Aug. 26. ATF, in conjunction with the St. Petersburg and Pinellas Park police departments, found 17 kilos of powder cocaine at those locations. The cocaine has a street value of about $714,000. A total of $215,122 in cash was also seized during the federal investigation. That investigation was launched in Miami and includes 10 other suspects.

The King brothers, AFT said Thursday afternoon, surrendered within three hours of news about the rewards going public.
