ST. PETERSBURG, FL — A 36-year-old Riverview woman wanted in connection with a fatal hit-and-run crash on the Howard Frankland Bridge early Monday morning was tracked down to St. Petersburg, local police say.
According to the St. Petersburg Police Department, a tip was called into the agency around 9 p.m. Monday that Allison Huffman was at The Promenade Apartments. Police responded and detained Huffman until the Florida Highway Patrol arrived.
Huffman was wanted in connection with a crash that left 43-year-old Rogelio Perez-Borroto of Tampa dead. She has since been charged with leaving the scene of a crash involving death.

The accident occurred around 2:22 a.m. Monday as Huffman was allegedly heading north on Interstate 275. At that time, Perez-Borroto was standing outside of his Dodge Ram truck, which was parked on the outside shoulder. As Huffman’s Volkswagen passed the truck, troopers say the front of her vehicle struck the man, killing him.
Huffman is accused of fleeing the scene. While her car was later found at the Crown Plaza Hotel near the Westshore Mall, she was not there.
