The Tampa Bay Rowdies will call Al Lang Stadium home for the next four years at least.
That’s the news out of St. Petersburg where city officials have given a green light to a deal that will give Rowdies’ owner Bill Edwards and his Big 3 Entertainment company the rights to run the stadium for four years, The Tampa Tribune reported. In exchange for those rights, Edwards has to spend about $1.5 million on stadium improvements.
While baseball will no longer be played at the field, the deal does ensure the “Al Lang” name stays even if a stadium naming deal crops up, the paper reported.
