Gulfport Teen Motorcyclist Killed In Weekend St. Petersburg Van Collision (tampafp.com) — A 19-year-old Gulfport motorcyclist died after a late-night collision with a cargo van at 18th Avenue South and Quincy Street South in St. Petersburg, a key neighborhood intersection. He was taken to Orlando Health Bayfront Hospital, where he later died. The van’s driver stayed at the scene and is cooperating as police continue investigating possible charges.
3. Infant dies with bruises and lacerations all over body resulting in parents' arrest: Cops (lawandcrime.com) — St. Petersburg police say a 1-month-old boy was found unresponsive and later pronounced dead at a 5th Avenue North apartment, with bruises and lacerations across his body. His parents were arrested on child abuse and neglect charges, remain jailed in Pinellas County on high bond, and could face additional counts once the autopsy clarifies how the injuries occurred.
4. Illinois Man Dead After Medical Episode Leads To St. Petersburg Crash (tampafp.com) — A 78-year-old Illinois man died Monday morning after suffering a medical emergency while driving on 34th Street North in St. Petersburg, causing his SUV to leave the road and hit a street sign before stopping in a driveway. No other vehicles or bystanders were injured, and he was pronounced dead at Orlando Health Bayfront Hospital. Police say the investigation continues but believe a health issue triggered the crash.
5. Bay Area residents recognized for water-efficient landscaping amid historic drought (fox13news.com) — St. Petersburg residents are being urged to cut water use as strict once-a-week lawn watering rules and time limits take effect across the Tampa Bay region amid a major drought. Local homeowners can tap Tampa Bay Water Wise rebates for efficient toilets and irrigation upgrades, and officials warn that municipalities, including St. Petersburg, may impose even tougher restrictions and fines if conditions worsen.
